An Amazing Trip

                               Our Best Field Trip Ever
                         Written by Mrs. Theodore's Class

Wow! What an adventure we had! It all began with a bumpy bus ride to the Zoo! The minute we got off the bus we found our parent helpers. Each parent only had 2 kids. We all decided to quickly check out the Children’s Zoo. It is free to get in before 10:00 in the morning. One of our favorite parts about the Children’s Zoo was getting to pet a corn snake and getting to pet fluffy guinea pigs. We saw a naked mole rat and an armadillo. There was a tunnel with tree frogs that we could look at.
At 10:00 we rushed to the Living World for our class. This is when our crazy day really started. We were all sitting in a circle learning all kinds of animal facts. Our Zoo teacher, Lisa, had just got out a cute chicken named Popcorn. We were getting ready to use our two fingers like we had been taught to all get to pet Popcorn when suddenly RING, RING, RING, the lights were flickering and the sirens started blaring. We tried to stay calm and listen to directions as what we were supposed to do. We were told to go outside but it was pouring rain. The Zoo workers let us stay inside and handed us blue and yellow ponchos to put on in case we had to go outside. We waited for a while to be told what to do. We were disappointed that we did not get to go back in our Zoo class because we found out that there was a fire in the building.
The good news is that it had just stopped raining. We stayed with our parent helper and had over an hour to explore the Zoo. We got to see the sea lions eating, elephants eating and butterflies flying. Some of us went into the Bird House, Snake House and the Monkey House. Some of us saw a lion eating a possum and the hippos playing.
We boarded the bus to go back to school right when it started really raining hard. We got to eat pretzels on the bus! Even though we didn’t get to have our class, we still had an amazing time exploring the St. Louis Zoo. Mrs. Theodore said that she loved the day because we will all have so many good ideas for stories.
